BUIES CREEK, North Carolina -- While excitement was building around campus to see the newest graduates walk across the stage, members of the Class of 1967 spent May 12-13 sharing memories of life on campus in the 1960s.

Approximately 30 alumni, family, and friends joined together for a 50 Year Celebration featuring a gold medallion recognition program, campus tours, a special lunch and dinner, and the opportunity to walk in the graduation proceedings. Retired professor and director of the Lundy-Fetterman Museum Dorothea Stewart Gilbert (’46) also joined the fun.

Attendees began their celebration on Friday at Butler Chapel where Dr. Daniel Hester, Adjunct Professor of Organ, played a concert of hits from 1967. Alumni proceeded to the Alumni Room of Marshbanks Dining Hall for lunch and a campus update from Vice President of Institutional Advancement, Dr. Britt Davis. Several in the group also provided updates on what their life has been like since they last attended Campbell University.

Following lunch, graduates loaded into a bus for a tour of campus that included stops at Leslie Campbell Hall of Science, Maddox Hall, John W. Pope Convocation Center, Levine Hall of Medical Sciences, and the Tracey F. Smith Hall of Nursing & Health Sciences. Additionally, the group met with Dr. Jenna Carpenter, Dean of the School of Engineering, in Carrie Rich Hall for a “back to class” session.

Later in the evening, alumni gathered again in the Alumni Room for dinner.  President J. Bradley Creed joined the attendees to welcome them back to their Campbell home and thank them for paving the way for the students who would graduate the next day. Following an update on the nursing program from Dr. Nancy Duffy and student Emily Grace Harris, the alumni were inducted into the Golden Club and given their gold medallions.

Saturday morning, alumni gathered together for breakfast before heading to the convocation center to get their graduation robes. After lining up with the Class of 2017, the graduates from 1967 marched into the arena and walked across stage as members of the Golden Club.
